Tech Zero Pledge

Spring is proud to join Tech Zero, a group of innovative UK tech companies working together to fight the climate crisis, accelerate progress to net zero and help consumers make greener choices.

We’re committed to net zero by 2050 and this year we have measured all our emissions, including scope 3.

At Spring, we’re committing to reach net zero emissions by 2050. This means limiting our company’s carbon footprint in line with keeping global warming to below 1.5°C - the critical level of heating to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis.

As part of our net zero commitment, we will:

• Measure all our global organisation’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including scope 3, and report them publicly each year.
• Publish more details about how we plan to reach net zero by the end of 2050, including setting a net zero target date by 2050 at the absolute latest, and an interim target(s).
• Appoint a member of our executive team to be responsible and accountable for our net zero target.
• Communicate our climate commitments in other meaningful ways, including to our customers.
• Report our progress on short and medium term targets to our Board annually, and on our website.

What have we done so far?

1. Measured and Reported Our Emissions

We’ve already measured out GHG emissions, including our scope 3 emissions for our last reporting year. In total, we generated 13.01 tonnes of CO2e and a full breakdown of our emissions can be found in our GHG report.

2. Set targets for this year

3. Reached Carbon Neutrality

This year was our first reporting year and we have switched our central office to a renewable energy supplier and offset the remainder of our emissions to become carbon neutral. We understand that reducing emissions and reaching net zero is the priority and so once we’ve established a reliable base-year* we’ll set science-based targets to help reach net zero.

*It is worth noting that this year has been significantly affected by COVID and is not a reliable indicator of our GHG emissions, so whilst we were carbon neutral this year we will set science-based targets next year once we have developed a reliable base year and that is why our Tech Zero Pledge is 2050.
